Doing It Themselves: Artists Exploring the Handmade
Doing It Themselves: Artists Exploring the Handmade
2023

Artist Margaret Killgallen once said of her work, “I do everything by hand. I don't project or use anything mechanical, because even though I do spend a lot of time trying to perfect my line work and my hand, my hand will always be imperfect because it's human.” This exhibition will celebrate the imperfection of the artist’s hand in a world saturated with 3D printers, wireless scanning, and ever-evolving machinery. Six local and regional artists will come together to present a survey of artists doing work themselves and by hand – without the aid of modern technology.

Artists: Erin K. Drew, Jenny Ollikainen, Nat Russell, Emily Gable, Eric Stine, and Thea Meussling.
