Curatorial Work I
Organized by Zehra Begüm Kışla, Jiwon Geum, Kyle Herrington, Ursula Pokorny, Olivia Rodrigues, and Calvin Wang.
In conversation and collaboration since October 2022, CCS Bard graduate students and Cori Olinghouse have turned a series of conversations surrounding archives, embodiment, and mapping into a site-specific score for The Portal reading room. Copy, Paste, Map responds to The Portal and its collection of books through a collaborative score of material activation and response. Inspired by artist Pati Hill’s practice, primarily her piece Vers Versailles in which she photocopied the entirety of Versailles Palace, students will re-imagine a selection of details from The Portal with photocopy machines. The Portal will become a space for improvisation and exploration, with a choreography of copying, annotating past copies, and building maps from the result.
